A multi-media project that emerged from a performance piece. In the performance the artist is suspended from the ceiling above dust composing of her own hair, skin and lint. The resemblance to flying encourages the notion of freedom and beauty that is often the romantic ideological notion of an artist’s life. The dust is shed skin, a rebirth achieved through art. However in reality, the artist is constrained, limited by the position she has put herself in. The artist is in extreme discomfort, under strain because of her physical weakness. Unable to hold an elegant pose for her audience, she continuously tries and fails for their entertainment. Consequently, her freedom transforms into a trap, comparable to the relationship between an artist and their work.
